Blue
Lakes
November 8th 2008
The number 10 event
is in the record books for the SCBBBC 2008 Charity float tube tour.
We finished this year off with 24 of California's finest float tuber
on Blue Lake in Lake County. The weather was cool in the morning and
the wind was mild. The bite proved to be very tough as very few limits
came to the scale. I fished as hard as I could and wasn't able to get
one fish in the live well, but for our 2008 AOY it was a total different
story. It was Dave Sternitzke that caught one of three limits and his
was the largest at 10.30 and this would make Dave the Sonoma County
Belly Boat Bass Clubs 2008 angler of the year. This is his second year
in a row which is no simple task. Take into consideration that he not
only did it two years in a row, but he did it while our club had the
largest average attendance of any float tube circuit in the world. Congratulation
Dave on a job well done and for setting a very high standard for the
SCBBBC.
Blue lakes has
seemed to belong to Scotty Beem the past few tournaments and once again
he came close to the win. Scott started his day off by forgetting his
follow-me bag at his in-laws and after he checked in, he drove the speed
limit back to there house and lost some precious fishing time, but he
still pulled out the second largest limit with 9.61. He did it while
pitching Sinkos way back into the hard to reach pockets. Keep up the
good fishing Scotty.
Then came Mr. Steve
Wilson with the days coolest Vertical Lures Pro shirt and the third
largest and last limit of the day of 7.98. I was able to watch and learn
as Steve flipped, felt, set the hook and landed his 5th keeper on his
Vertical jig. Steve was just getting back into the swing with the SCBBBC
while fishing the 2008 tour. Steve fished with the club many years ago
and you can bet he'll be fishing again next year and giving all of us
a schooling. Steve will be the release boat at our 2008 TOC event next
weekend at Clear Lake.
Rounding out the
money spots where Jon Graves, 4 fish for 7.53 in 4th with the day #
1 BIG FISH of 3.10, caught on a "Sexxy Shad" crank bait. Jon
was followed closely by Anthony Duffany who caught 4 fish for 7.47 and
took home the 5th spot. It was our Lake County champion Deren Kozenko
who snatched up the last money award with 4 fish for 7.44. Good fishing
guys on what I thought was a very tough fishing day at Blue Lakes. Lets
not forget Randy Kidds #2 BIG FISH of 2.70. Here are the complete results
from a day one the lake with the SCBBBC. Thank you to the officers for
running another smooth tournament.
